Our Mission

To create a multi-generational church through intentional family discipleship, building relationships with, and serving the needs of our city, our neighbors, and our friends.

Who We Are

At Generations Northwest, we are a community of believers united by faith, dedicated to faithful preaching of the Word of God, making disciples of the community in which God has placed us, and the building of His kingdom here on earth, to the praise of His glory and for the good of His people. We believe deeply in the power & activity of the Holy Spirit in the work of convicting people of their sin and bringing to new life those who were spiritually dead.

Our Vision

Our vision is to know Christ more, to make Christ known, and to make disciples of this generation & all those to come.

Our Beliefs

We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that while these three are co-equal and distinct persons, they are one in being; namely God.

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” - [Psalm 90:2]

We believe that the Bible, being the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is inspired, authoritative, and sufficient. We believe that the Bible is our only infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice. Any creeds or confessions of men, while helpful in outlining and preserving the historic faith, remain secondary and subordinate to the revealed word of God.

We believe in unity in essential beliefs; liberty in non-essential beliefs; and charity in all things.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” - [2 Tim. 3:16-17]

We believe humans were originally created in the image of God to be worshipers of His and are the crown jewel of all God’s Creation. We believe in the historical and literal fall into sin of Adam as the first created man, which we call original sin. Although originally deemed ‘good’ by God and created in His own image, sin has infiltrated every area of human existence, and therefore made humanity fully broken and incapable of living the life God designed for us to live. As such, all humanity has inherited the debt of sin in this world, but also contributes to sin. In and of itself, all of humanity is selfish and does not seek God, but rather seeks its own pleasure.

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned… “ - [Rom. 5:12]

We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross as a substitute for sinners. We believe that by the death of Jesus Christ, the penalty of sin (past, present and future) is paid for all who believe in Him as Lord and Savior.

“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,” - [Col. 1:22]

We believe that a sinner is justified (declared not guilty) with God not by his/her own merits, but by the unmerited grace of God alone. Even faith is the gift of God. We believe that sinners are saved by grace through faith and not by works.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” - [Ephesians 2:8-10]

We believe since it is God who gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in this salvation for eternity. Salvation is granted, maintained, and brought to completion by the grace and power of God alone, not by the self effort of the Christian. It is the grace and the “keeping power” of God that gives this security.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” - [Phil. 1:6]

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.” - [John 10:27-29]

The Church is the living body of Jesus Christ on earth. He is the head and the source of its life. We believe that all true believers need to be a part of a local church, so that they can grow in their faith through instruction, worship, and fellowship with other believers.

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” - [Rom. 12:4-5]

“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” - [Eph. 4:15-16]

We believe that men and women are created both equal in value and distinct in nature. Both men and women are partners together in the ministry of Christ, are both created in the image of God, and both in Christ inherit true righteousness, holiness, and relationship with God. All ministries in the church are open to all qualified men and women, with the singular exception of the office of Pastor/Elder. Both men and women serve the church as deacons, evangelists, lead praise in worship, serve communion, and serve on the staff team.

“The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer (Elder), he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer (elder) must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives (the women) likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.” - [1 Tim. 3:1-12]

We believe there are two sacraments given by Jesus Christ to strengthen our faith as members of His Church: namely Baptism & Communion. The first is the sacrament of Baptism, which is the sign of the New Covenant of Grace instituted by Christ, and is a first step of obedience for believers in Christ and a sign of our identification with Him in His death and resurrection. It serves as a visible sign of our being grafted into Him, of the washing away of our sins, and of us being made as though dead to our old way of life and, through the power of Jesus Christ, being raised to live and walk in the newness of life.

The second is the sacrament of Communion. We believe the broken bread of the communion symbolizes the broken body of Jesus Christ and the cup symbolizes the blood of Christ poured out at the cross for our salvation. We believe that as often as we gather for worship, we should do this as a constant reminder to us, as a testimony to all the world of the sacrifice of Christ, for the spiritual nourishment of believers, and to serve as a pledge of our communion both with Him and with each other.

“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.” - [Rom. 6:3-6]

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.” - [1 Cor. 11:23-26]

We believe when the time is fulfilled, Jesus Christ will return in power and glory to judge both the living and the dead, and to complete His total victory over sin, death, and Satan. Until His return, we believe we are to live lives that bring glory to God through Jesus Christ, to make disciples of all nations, to be His witnesses throughout all the earth, and to work toward the increase of His government and of peace.

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - [Matt. 28:18-20]

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - [Acts 1:8]

“For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” - [1 Cor. 15:21-26]
